Chinese buses to hit the roads
Phnom Penh is to get five new bus routes when China donates 100 buses within two months, according to City Hall. Phnom Penh Governor Pa Socheatvong said the new routes would help reduce traffic congestion in the capital and should be operational in June or July. There are currently three bus routes in the city served by 57 buses on a daily basis. “Using public transport is a good way cut traffic jams in our Phnom Penh city,” Mr Socheatvong said. He added that transport officials are busy preparing new street maps to reflect the additional routes, while 360 additional bus stops would be installed.
